Imagine this....

Today in our book study, we talked alot about the importance of God's word in our daily lives.  Some of the great verses today were:

"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that procedeth out of the mouth of God."  Matthew 4:4

This verse really got me thinking of the similarities between our need for regular food and spiritual food.  What does food do for us?
     *comfort
     *makes us feel good
     *fills that empty knawing feeling
     *gives us energy/keeps us going strong

Notice any similarities??  Gods Word does all these things for us.  We are living in a world of an overwhelming majority of the walking spiritually dead.  Who in there right mind would only eat once a week on Sunday???  We would starve to death.  Think of all the time we spend thinking of food, eating food, preparing food, planning out our meals etc...  if we just gave the Word half the time we spend on food, we would see such a HUGE change in our daily lives.

"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby."  1 Peter 2:2

This verse got me thinking of my two good friends Alicia and Natasha.  They are currently nursing there two little baby girls.  I can't imagine either one of them deciding to only nurse once a day or once a week!!!  Food is AS IMPORTANT as our Spiritual food, the Word, is!  Once we start to renew our mind to think the Word of truth on this, we will start to see a spiritual revolution!! 

While going through this second chapter this week, I was reminded of something that happened awhile back.  Over 4 years ago, God woke me up one night.  He has done this to me on many occasions. Often it's to read the word, but this time it was to write a story:)  It was a very convicting story, but an important reminder.  I typed it out and thought I would share it with you today, I pray that it is a blessing to your walk with Christ, as it has been to mine.

Imagine this

     Jesus is in your living room when you woke up this morning. You get out of bed and get dressed for the day. You get breakfast going for you, your hubby, and the kids. You get bag lunches ready to take to school, and a lunch for your husband to take to work. All the while Jesus is waiting patiently in the living room.

You hug and kiss all of them goodbye and wave as the bus drives away. Now it’s time for some chores. You get a load put in the laundry and the floor vacuumed (Jesus lifts up his feet and continues to wait). You get a load going in the dishwasher, switch the load to the dryer and tidy up the living room. (Jesus moves to the rocking chair while you fix the couch pillows).  Now the baby needs a snack and so do you. You nibble a little on some crackers off the high chair. Then you scrub the floor, wipe down the counter and take out the trash.  After you make lunch for the baby, put her down for her nap and make yourself lunch, you turn on the TV for some veg. time. (Jesus continues to sit there patiently).  After some TV you run some arrons for awhile, come home and take a quick nap. (Jesus peeks his head around the corner to see you snoozing on the bed).

      Wake up comes just in time to get the kids home from school ready for soccer and gymnastics. You quickly drive off! (Jesus waves).

You race home in time to get dinner ready while helping with homework and trying to put the clean dishes away. Hubby’s home and everyone sit’s down to eat. Everyone turn’s there heads to the front room and says, "Thank you God for our food!"

After dinner everyone splits off into there own world. Dad to his home office, you go to your room to watch your shows, kids go to the living room to watch a movie (Jesus sits and watches them waiting).  Kiss the kids goodnight, kiss the hubby goodnight and your out!

A quiet yet constant creaking sound can be heard coming from the living room.....

Now, who in there right mind would wake up, see Jesus sitting in there from room, and completely ignore Him all day???

Sadly, every one of us at some point is guilty of that very thing. We have constant access to the creator of the heavens and the earth, yet our days can be filled with everything but Him.

When we neglect to be in the Word (Jesus is the Word) we spend the day ignoring Jesus Christ.

When we let our bibles lay there and collect dust, while the worries of the world get all of our attention, we are telling God, bluntly to His face, that we don’t love Him. This may sound harsh, but put yourself in Christ’s place. Imagine the scenario you just read, but now it’s your grown up child’s home. Would you feel loved if your daughter spent the whole day purposefully ignoring you??

God desires more then anything else to have a relationship with his children. The least we, as his creation, could do, is spend time with our creator. If it weren’t for Him, we wouldn’t even exist.

A great way to MEMORIZE scripture!

I thought I would share with all of you the bible verses being worked on this week by the "Sweet Journey" book club. These verses would be great for any woman to memorize. These verses also fly strait against what the world tells you woman are suppose to be. I pray that we can all trust Yahweh's (God's) word enough to claim these verses as the TRUTH. AND... the truth shall set us FREE!!

Titus 2:3-5

The picture above is a new way for me to try to memorize scripture. It was mentioned to me by my friend Joy and has been working amazingly! I wrote the whole verse out and read it out loud. Then I took one word away and read the WHOLE thing out loud again. Then I went through the house all day picking things up and putting them away from here or there, and each time I passed the board, I took one more word away and recited the WHOLE verse again. This is just amazing, I almost have the whole verse down and it only took a few hours!! Just amazing!! Give it a try, memorizing God's word is one of the BEST weapons we have against the enemy!! USE IT WELL SISTA'S!!

It's Time To Get Back To Bloggin!

     Well it's been far to long since my last post!!  I have recently been encouraged to go back to bloggin after a bit of a break and I'm excited to start back up.  Having a 2 year old has really changed my daily routine and I'm still working at figuring out how to fit it all in!  My crafting has slowed down to a very slow crawl as of late, but I plan to work it in a little more starting now:)  I would also like to start posting about a new book study I have started.  The book is called "Sweet Journey" and it is written by Teri Maxwell.  You can see the book and the Maxwell family web sight HERE.

    I am VERY excited about this study because it will be hitting the three basics of having a closer relationship with Christ, namely: Reading your Bible, Praying and Memorizing Scripture:)  Three things that ALL of us have had our struggles with!  Our group had our first meeting this Wednesday and I was SO happy with how everything went.  I really believe God has great things for us with the book and this group.  I encourage you all to check this book out:).

     More on the study to come... (when it's not 1 am in the morning and my eyes can't hardly stay open:)

My Utmost For His Highest

"Take no thought for your life." Matthew 6:25

A warning which needs to be reiterated is that the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the lust of other things entering in, will choke all that God puts in. We are never free from the recurring tides of this encroachment. If it does not come on the line of clothes and food, it will come on the line of money or lack of money; of friends or lack of friends; or on the line of difficult circumstances. It is one steady encroachment all the time, and unless we allow the Spirit of God to raise up the standard against it, these things will come in like a flood.

"Take no thought for your life." "Be careful about one thing only," says our Lord - "your relationship to Me." Common sense shouts loud and says - "That is absurd, I must consider how I am going to live, I must consider what I am going to eat and drink." Jesus says you must not. Beware of allowing the thought that this statement is made by One Who does not understand our particular circumstances. Jesus Christ knows our circumstances better than we do, and He says we must not think about these things so as to make them the one concern of our life. Whenever there is competition, be sure that you put your relationship to God first.

"Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." How much evil has begun to threaten you to-day? What kind of mean little imps have been looking in and saying - Now what are you going to do next month - this summer? "Be anxious for nothing," Jesus says. Look again and think. Keep your mind on the "much more" of your heavenly Father.

Answers in Genesis Confrence in town!

Recently our family was blessed to be able to attend a Answers in Genesis Conference!! Ken Ham was the main speaker there. If you haven't heard of him before is a very well known Creation Scientist. He is a main collaborator in the now finished creation museum in Kentucky! To read more about Answers in Genesis and Ken Ham go HERE. The web sight is LOADED with wonderful information! I have been following Mr. Ham for almost 8 years now, ever since I became a Christian. It was SUCH a blessing to be able to take my family and see him in person finally. My prayer for all of you and myself is this:
That each of us grows closer to Christ this year. That we would choose time with Him over a movie, a video game or a TV show even just once. That we would consciously work each day at living our lives for him, instead of ourselves. Just being a human makes all these things pretty hard, but with Christ ALL THINGS are possible. Art Journal crafting.... :o)

I have wanted to start a prayer type journal for some time. I have seen lots of different ideas for these. This is the version I came up with.
Now just about everyone knows about these composition books. These are on sale at Wal Mart right now for 25 CENTS!!! So , I picked me up a few:)

I started by ripping strips of scrap book paper that appealed to me and gluing them from left to right onto the page leaving a strait edge on the left and right side. Then I trimmed the edges to fit the cover. I then kinda decoupaged over the strips with glue again ( I used 1 part Elmer's glue to 2 parts water ). As this drys it will curl your front page a bit so when it's dry I needed to put something heavy on it for a bit.

I then kinda added a title of sorts with sharpies and some paint pens I had in gold and silver.

On the back I made more strait strips and wove them on the page. I took the top long strips and used double sided tape to glue them in place. Then I took the other strips and just wove them top to bottom till it was full. I used some more double sided tape and some glue to keep that down and also put some more glue on top and trimmed the edges.

Then I took the first lined page and glued it to the inside of the cover. I then took the next page and also glued that to the inside of the cover. I then took the next page and glued it to the nearest page to the right. Then those two glued pages got glued to the next page to the right. That way the pages are three layers thick. This allows for paint and sharpies and whatever might have bled through the single pages. I took a piece of green and blue scrap book paper. Cut it to size with some scrapbook edging scissors and glued it on. Then, used a little chalk colors for interest and started painting. This is the fun part:)

This is my 8 year olds work. She is cutting out old birthday cards and gluing them to a page to make her own cute little clutch:) Will post when she finishes:)

Feeling down?

Prayer is one of my hardest disciplines. I struggle to remember to pray and well as I find so many other things in my life that gobble up my prayer time.
One of the hardest times for me, and also the MOST critical, is the morning. Getting that time in the morning to focus on Christ is SO pivotal in how your day will wind up. When I take the time to start my day out in prayer the outcome is NIGHT and DAY different to when I skip it. Trying to get through the day on our own never works out quite right. Now all that said, how many of us have things competing for our time in the morning?? I know as a mother and wife we can easily wake up with a FULL TO-DO list the moment we open our eyes!! Often I wake up to a baby monitor with a very adorable very LOUD baby making himself known on the other end! Or my two oldest daughters are arguing and someones stomping down the stairs to plead there case! So, it can be quite hard to get the quiet time with God with all that happening if I don't plan ahead!! When I can, I try to wake up by an alarm clock. Even if it's 15 minutes before the rest of my family gets up, it's enough to start the day out right with prayer. Author Elizabeth George says it like this " BEAT YOUR FAMILY UP!!" LOL That is, if you can, try to wake up before them to have that quiet time to pray:)
Not all of us can do this every morning I realize. I know I sure can't. SO, Kelly's tricks to time for prayer go like this:
#1. This one is my favorite secret and , shall we say, alittle taboo...:)
TOILET TIME PRAYER!! We all know there is not to many rooms we mom's get to be alone in for long, so I always take this opportunity to chat with God!! I'm sure God will bless our efforts to try to find as much time as we can to commune with Him, even if we are multi tasking!! LOL
#2. There are many other bathroom tasks that lend to time alone with God. Brushing your teeth, doing your hair/make-up, showering or taking a bath. All great times to pray in privacy.
#3. Doing household chores can be a bit mundane, but we can use this time wisely and fill it with prayer too! Thank God for the dishes He's given you to clean and the food he gave you too eat. Thank him for the clothes He's provided for your family and for the family He's provided for you. When you focus your mind to why you have the chores in the first place, it's easy to think of many things to thank God for when your doing the chores:)
#4. Aron's in the car bring great opportunity for prayer. When the kiddos and I see ambulances or fire trucks going by we try to remember to say a prayer to everyone involved in the crisis. Sometimes we will pick a color and each time we see that color car we will say a special prayer for them. ALSO, while the kiddos are reading, chatting or watching a movie, take that time to pray.

So these are just some tips that might help in finding that all so important time with God. Any relationship will suffer if the lines of communication aren't open and well used. Start your day out with the Lord and He will be faithful to bless you for it!!

Proverbs 26:21 The Contentious Christian

So is a contentious man to kindle strife.

A wise friend shared this passage with me this evening. In my drive to share my love for Christ and his Word with others, I have fallen flat on my face with this passage to many times. Just when I think that I am past that and have potentially become more mature in my walk, I am shown I have far to go. Even with the best intentions, Christians can cause much more harm then good when trying to push people into there beliefs. When I was first saved, I was red hot on fire for the Lord. I took that fire on vacation with me soon after to visit my extended family. I will be working on the outcome of that trip for years to come. Christ can't be forced, no matter how desperately we want our loved ones or anyone else for that matter to see heaven. Trust in God to save, for only He can. He is working on each one of us at our pace. He is sovereign and loves us more then we ever could imagen.
