Soda Farm Art

Ok, so I know this looks alittle bit cookie, but I kinda live in cookie ville and really dig this! I have been really having possibley to much fun with Soda Can's lately. So, I came up with this idea to make a fun little farm scene! I used a round card board piece from some frozen pizza. I mounted it on a old record, painted a landscape type background and used a stencile, scissors, hot glue and ALOT of time and patience to make the farm animals and grass! Enjoy!

New OATMEAL purse!

Part 1 of Puzzle Friendship Necklaces!

This is a fun idea I found that I am putting my own twist to. It's a great craft to do with the kiddos too!
Here's some pics of Sam and Kay doing theirs:

Then we have Benjamin doing some coloring.... when he's not trying to eat the crayons!!! YUCK!

Ok, here we go:

Grab some puzzle pieces that you don't use anymore. You want two that connect horizontally. I got some medium size pieces.

Now paint a few coats of white paint on both sides and the edges until there nice and covered.

Here are the four sets I'm doing.

Now paint a design you like!! Sky's the limit!

Now to make them necklaces, I put some ...I think there called gromets?? into them. I used one hole for some and added some O rings to those and then I used two holes in others and just put the necklace string through them both from back, through and then through the other side... WOW, now that is a run on sentence! LOL
I forgot to take picks of this step so i will do a part 2 to this post ASAP.
Enjoy!

Some art I did with Card stock and Paint chips!

These are a few pieces of art I did with some square card stock I have had for a LONG time, and some paint chips I recently picked up!

This first one I added some puffy square tape to give it some dimension, hard to see on the pic but there is alittle space between each tree:)

This one was with a stencil and some free hand on the corners. Then I added the sliced strips of multi colored paint chips to a piece of card stock for the back.

This last one is actually all the scraps from the two previous one on a new piece of card stock! These were really fun, gonna do something like this again soon!

Art Journal crafting.... :o)

I have wanted to start a prayer type journal for some time. I have seen lots of different ideas for these. This is the version I came up with.
Now just about everyone knows about these composition books. These are on sale at Wal Mart right now for 25 CENTS!!! So , I picked me up a few:)

I started by ripping strips of scrap book paper that appealed to me and gluing them from left to right onto the page leaving a strait edge on the left and right side. Then I trimmed the edges to fit the cover. I then kinda decoupaged over the strips with glue again ( I used 1 part Elmer's glue to 2 parts water ). As this drys it will curl your front page a bit so when it's dry I needed to put something heavy on it for a bit.

I then kinda added a title of sorts with sharpies and some paint pens I had in gold and silver.

On the back I made more strait strips and wove them on the page. I took the top long strips and used double sided tape to glue them in place. Then I took the other strips and just wove them top to bottom till it was full. I used some more double sided tape and some glue to keep that down and also put some more glue on top and trimmed the edges.

Then I took the first lined page and glued it to the inside of the cover. I then took the next page and also glued that to the inside of the cover. I then took the next page and glued it to the nearest page to the right. Then those two glued pages got glued to the next page to the right. That way the pages are three layers thick. This allows for paint and sharpies and whatever might have bled through the single pages. I took a piece of green and blue scrap book paper. Cut it to size with some scrapbook edging scissors and glued it on. Then, used a little chalk colors for interest and started painting. This is the fun part:)

My daughter is also doing her own art book. Here is a pic of her front cover.

This is my 8 year olds work. She is cutting out old birthday cards and gluing them to a page to make her own cute little clutch:) Will post when she finishes:)

Paintings from the past

Here are a few pictures of paintings I did around four years ago... wishing to have time to do paintings like these some more.... the practice would definitely help!! But still, just love to sit and paint. This first one is of my daughter Samantha ( on the right), and her best bud Katlin. I have the photo I used for this somewhere, will add if I can find it.

This last one is of a coloring book page. I just attempted to make it bigger and "colored" it.

Way #3 to use Toilet Paper / Paper Towel Rolls! Purse / Bag Handles!

OK. So this looks pretty silly at first glance. But just think of it; have you ever went into a craft store and bought purse handles!!! These can be SO expensive!! Why not make your own! Take a Paper towel roll and cut it in half ( you can use the whole thing, but it is SO hard to roll up!) Roll up the cardboard long ways and either hot glue or tape it closed at the end. Now it's up to you and your creativity!! Wrap this in fabric and leave a little long so you can sew it into the fabric of your purse. Wrap it in ribbon of your choice, wrap it in yarn or even recycled t-shirt yarn!! ( tutorial to come...) Once wrapped in fabric you can use any color embroidery floss and wrap it with that! You can use BIG beads and (maybe after painting the cardboard itself) bead them on it!! For the fabric below I used some black bias tape! ENJOY!!

Way #2 to use Toilet Paper / Paper Towel Rolls! Hanging Hearts

This one is super easy. This is a picture of the idea, but you could go so many ways with this one! Just cut a few slices from a toilet paper tube that has been squished flat. Then at one of the creases, push it into the middle of the circle and the result is a cute little heart!! You can paint these and make necklaces, wall art, four leaf clovers etc!!!. You can see in the picture, you can also connect them with carefully placed half cuts through the strips! Enjoy!
